  1. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced a new intuitive on Monday, and Baton Rouge is part of the first phase. The initiative — “Operation Overdrive” — is aimed at fighting the rise of drug-related violent crime and overdose deaths. “Hot spots” of drug-related violence and deaths were identified and part of the first phase.   2. A 16-year-old student was arrested on Monday morning after police say they found a loaded handgun in his backpack. The School Drug Task Force at Glen Oaks High found the gun, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said. Police say no threats were reported, and it remains unclear why the student had a gun. (WBRZ)
  3. Police took a wanted suspect into custody after a standoff at a Baton Rouge Hotel on Monday. At about noon, police went to the Quality Inn near the intersection of Airline and Interline Avenue. The person was taken into custody around 1 p.m. No details about the suspect or charges were immediately available. (WBRZ)
