Here are the top four stories in Baton Rouge today:
- The National Weather Service has forecast and enhanced the risk for severe weather on Wednesday across southeast Louisiana, which is expected to hit the Baton Rouge area. Tornadoes may be possible tomorrow, though hurricane-strength winds are the main cause for concern. Storm winds have the possibility of gusting up to 74 mph. The National Weather Service has encouraged residents to sign up for severe weather warnings and have a safe place to take shelter. (NOLA.com)
- Two people were stabbed to death in West Baton Rouge on Monday, Mar. 28. Investigators believe a man, 66-year-old Robert Washington, was killed at his home after a woman, who was later killed in a field behind his home, showed up at his front door looking for help. According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the suspect, 58-year-old Kevin Craig, was booked on charges of home invasion and domestic abuse battery. (WBRZ)
- On Monday, Mar. 28, State Rep. Rick Edmonds, R-Baton Rouge, was the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge where he talked about his bill, HB 22. The bill, if approved, will provide for the reemployment of retired teachers to address the critical teacher shortage in Louisiana. During the event, Edmonds also discussed other legislation currently under consideration that could impact education. (WAFB)
