📰 News we're reading
• Belle Chasse Elementary reopens after fire (wdsu.com) — Students at Belle Chasse Elementary are back in their classrooms after a fire shut down the campus for more than a week, with safety inspections clearing the building. One hallway will stay closed for several weeks, but the school is rearranging space so instruction can continue while investigators determine what caused the blaze.
• Proposal to reinstate Belle Chasse Bridge tolls gains attention (wgno.com) — Belle Chasse drivers could see bridge tolls return under a new state proposal that sets lower local rates but offers no firm timeline. Local leaders and residents in Plaquemines Parish are pushing back hard, warning tolls could hurt small businesses and pledging to revive legislation aimed at buying out the toll company and eliminating fees altogether.
• 2026 Louisiana Prep Football Schedule for Week 5 (crescentcitysports.com) — Belle Chasse fans can circle this week's prep football matchups, with the Cardinals scheduled to face Lakeshore on both Thursday and Friday in the Week 5 slate. The statewide schedule lists dozens of games, but Belle Chasse supporters will be most focused on how their team performs in this key stretch.
