• School Board looks to continue free meals in Tammany schools (nola.com) — St. Tammany Parish School Board members meeting at the C.J. Schoen Administrative Complex in Covington have preliminarily approved continuing free breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2026-27 school year. The plan, costing an estimated $2.7 million, is expected to receive final approval May 21 and would spare families from meal fees and the district from significant administrative costs. 
• Louisiana radio executive's true crime podcast leads to four arrests in 1987 cold case (wdam.com) — Covington residents are learning that a locally connected true crime podcast helped investigators arrest four men in a decades‑old murder case tied to a Covington neighborhood. Produced by Northshore Media Group’s Charles Dowdy, the series generated new leads that, alongside fresh DNA techniques and work by Louisiana State Police and Covington police, helped revive and advance the investigation.
