• State senators vote to advance measure naming stretch of La. 16 after late Livingston crossing guard (wbrz.com) — Lawmakers are moving forward with a plan to name the stretch of La. 16 in front of Seventh Ward Elementary in Denham Springs the “Katy Wells Memorial Crossing Corridor,” honoring the beloved crossing guard killed on duty April 30. The measure, added to HB 675 by Sen. William Wheat, passed the state Senate unanimously and now heads back to the House for another vote.
