High School students launch prototype to provide real-time flood intelligence in Livingston Parish (livingstonparishnews.com) — Denham Springs High School students have built a low-cost flood monitoring prototype that’s already sending real-time data back to their campus and could eventually lower local insurance rates. Their FloodEyes system, designed after consulting engineers and parish officials, measures river levels and flow far more cheaply than federal gauges and is being tested on the Amite River for wider Livingston Parish deployment.

Sons of the American Revolution visit Seventh Ward Elementary to promote patriotism and history (livingstonparishnews.com) — Students at Seventh Ward Elementary in Denham Springs recently got a close-up look at the American Revolution when members of the Sons of the American Revolution visited in full period dress. The group’s living history program focused on patriotism, civic responsibility, and the daily lives of Revolutionary War figures, tying national history directly to local classrooms.
   

3. Denham Springs High robotics team commended by state House for championship sweep (livingstonparishnews.com) — Denham Springs High’s robotics team, Denham Venom, has been officially commended by the Louisiana House after sweeping three major regional competitions and earning a spot at the 2026 FIRST World Championship. Ranked among the top teams worldwide, they’re now raising $5,000 to cover travel costs to Houston.

New STARC center gives care-providers respite (nola.com) — Families who once had to drive to Denham Springs for respite care now have a closer option thanks to STARC’s new Community Wins Respite Center in Slidell. The renovated three-bedroom home offers weekend stays, trained staff, and relaxing amenities so caregivers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can take a much-needed break.
