Gonzales Police, with help from multiple agencies, used negotiators and tactical teams before the suspect surrendered peacefully. Residents should know the incident is resolved, though the broader investigation continues.

2. AG says Gonzales mayor can create new positions, but needs council approval to move funds to pay them (wbrz.com) — A new opinion from the Louisiana Attorney General clarifies that Gonzales Mayor Tim Riley can create new city positions, but the City Council must still approve the funding for them. The ruling undercuts a local ordinance the council cited, and comes after a budget fight over adding a chief of staff and a Public Works secretary, just as the 2026-27 budget was passed.

3. Here's Air Products' plan to keep thousands of cars off Ascension roads (businessreport.com) — Air Products plans to base thousands of construction workers at Gonzales’ Lamar Dixon Expo Center and shuttle them by bus to its Louisiana Clean Energy Complex near Burnside, aiming to keep heavy traffic off Ascension roads. The $4.5 billion-plus project could support about 2,000 construction jobs at peak and 170 permanent positions, with added parking and infrastructure at Lamar Dixon benefiting expo visitors when not in worker use.

4. Gonzales teen killed in motorcycle crash (unfilteredwithkiran.com) — A 19-year-old Gonzales resident, Jacobi Clement, has died after a Saturday morning motorcycle crash on Hwy. 73 near Duplessis Road in Prairieville. State Police say he ran off the roadway for unknown reasons, was wearing a helmet, and later died at a local hospital as the investigation continues.
