Gonzales City Council holds special meeting to discuss vehicle crash involving city official (weeklycitizen.com) — Gonzales residents are learning more about a tense special City Council meeting where members publicly questioned Chief of Staff Wade Petite’s handling of a minor crash involving a city vehicle and an Entergy truck. Council members pressed city leaders on accident-reporting and drug-testing procedures, while the mayor and human resources director said they’re awaiting test results before deciding any potential discipline.

Pedestrian struck in fatal crash in Ascension Parish, police report (weeklycitizen.com) — A 20-year-old Gonzales resident, Jacqueline Merritt, died after being struck while walking along Highway 44 near Villa Court North in Ascension Parish Sunday night. State Police say she was hit by a pickup in the southbound lane, then that truck was rear-ended by another vehicle; both drivers were uninjured and impairment is not suspected as the investigation continues.

A record 20 businesses participating in Ascension Parish's cocktail trail (weeklycitizen.com) — Ascension Parish’s Sweet Spot Cocktail Trail returns May 1–July 31, with 20 participating bars and restaurants including several in Gonzales and a prize pickup spot at Tanger’s visitor center. Adults can grab a free passport, sample custom cocktails, collect stamps, and earn gifts and a shot at a grand prize while exploring local spots.
