Legal experts say that’s highly unusual for a strangulation charge, and the decision has sparked concerns about possible favoritism and victim safety in Hammond and Tangipahoa Parish.
   

2. Victim's mother shares photos of alleged attack by Hammond officer; police chief disputes claim (wwltv.com) — A Hammond police officer and son of Police Chief Edwin Bergeron Jr. has been arrested on felony domestic violence charges after a woman reported an attack in late September. The woman’s mother has released photos of injuries, while the chief publicly questions the accusations and stresses that Tangipahoa Parish deputies, not Hammond police, are handling the investigation. Additional stalking allegations from another woman are also under review by investigators.
   

3. Feds say arrest of Northshore brothers for Hamas fundraising tied to larger operation (fox8live.com) — Federal agents say two Northshore brothers tied to beauty supply shops in Hammond and Slidell are part of a larger operation accused of sending more than $100,000 to Hamas. Court records allege they raised money via social media and wired it overseas, disguising the transfers as charitable giving. Their Hammond store, 4 Her Beauty Supply, is specifically named in state business filings.
   

4. The Edna Karr-Brother Martin winner took control after a junior's 85-yard pick-six (nola.com) — Strawberry Stadium in Hammond hosted a dramatic district showdown where Edna Karr rallied past Brother Martin 25–21, helped by junior Ty Williams’ 85-yard pick-six and three total interceptions. The Friday night matchup featured big swings, strong rushing from Karr, and a highlight-reel touchdown catch by Brother Martin’s Easton Royal before Karr closed it out late.
