Cornerstone to add 160-foot flare and other changes for UBE facility on Jefferson Parish campus (nola.com) — Jefferson Parish leaders have approved key changes for a massive new EV battery-solvent plant on Cornerstone’s Waggaman campus, including a 160-foot flare and large sulfuric acid tanks. The project, backed by major tax breaks, has raised transparency and pollution concerns from at least one Parish Council member but promises new permanent and contractor jobs once completed.
   

4. Man dies days after gunfire at Metairie bar, suspect booked on murder counts, JPSO says (nola.com) — Jefferson Parish deputies have arrested a Terrytown man on a second-degree murder charge after a 28-year-old victim died following a shooting at a Metairie bar. Another Metairie man faces related charges including obstruction of justice and illegal weapon use, as investigators continue probing what led to the early-morning gunfire.
   

5. More than 100 New Orleans-area students named National Merit semifinalists (wwltv.com) — High-achieving students from Jefferson Parish, including those at Thomas Jefferson High and several Metairie-area schools, have been named National Merit semifinalists, putting them in the running for significant college scholarships. These juniors now move into a competitive application phase that could bring them part of $24 million in awards next spring.
