New playgrounds coming to Kenner and Harahan aim to make fun accessible (nola.com) — Kenner residents can look forward to a major new inclusive playground at Laketown on Williams Boulevard, designed so children of all abilities can play together. The $1.8 million project, inspired by a local family member with autism, will feature sensory-friendly areas, wheelchair-accessible equipment, and social play zones, complementing similar inclusive playgrounds across Jefferson Parish.
   

2. East Jefferson property transfers for Aug. 21-26, 2026. See a list of home and other sales. (nola.com) — If you live in Kenner, you can now see exactly which nearby homes and commercial properties changed hands between August 21 and 26, including prices on streets like Alabama Avenue, Monte Carlo Drive, and West 27th Street. This East Jefferson roundup offers a quick snapshot of Kenner's current real estate market and where investment is happening around you.
   

3. 34 families displaced by Kenner apartment building fire, officials say (nola.com) — A Wednesday night fire at an apartment building on Reverend Richard Wilson Drive in Kenner displaced 34 families and left 11 without usable apartments, though no injuries were reported. About 28 firefighters, plus EMS and Kenner police, brought the blaze under control in roughly an hour, and the most affected residents are now working with city emergency management and the Red Cross for temporary housing.
   

4. Louisiana expands alligator hunt as population swells to 3 million (fox8live.com) — State wildlife officials are expanding Louisiana's recreational alligator hunt starting Oct. 1, aiming to trim a booming three‑million‑strong gator population after recent attacks, including one that killed a dog along a Kenner canal. While most hunting will remain outside city limits, Kenner residents are urged not to feed gators and to review state "Gator Wise" safety tips to reduce dangerous encounters near local waterways.
   

5. Teacher arrested at East Jefferson High for indecent behavior with a juvenile (wwltv.com) — Kenner's Internet Crimes Against Children task force, run by the Kenner Police Department, has now led to the arrest of a local high school math teacher accused of sending explicit texts to someone he believed was a teen girl. Police Chief Keith Conley says nearly 40 men have been arrested under the effort and urges any students who may have been contacted to come forward.
