• Brothers plead guilty in death of Marrero father ambushed on his way home (nola.com) — A Marrero neighborhood is grappling with closure after two Terrytown brothers received 25-year prison sentences for fatally shooting 20-year-old Jakari Edwards while he walked home on Mt. Kennedy Drive in December 2023. Investigators say both men opened fire on Edwards in the street, and the pair later pleaded guilty to manslaughter, obstruction of justice, and illegal firearm possession. 
• Man wanted after fleeing traffic stop, running into Marrero woods: JPSO (wwltv.com) — Marrero residents may have noticed a heavy law enforcement presence after a driver fled a pre-dawn traffic stop on the Westbank Expressway, ditched his vehicle near Lapalco and Westwood, and ran into nearby woods. Deputies searched the 7400 block of Lapalco Boulevard with armored vehicles and have issued a warrant, saying the man is wanted for aggravated flight and illegal firearm possession.
