Prosecutors say he admitted to the stabbings and shootings during his retrial, which followed an earlier conviction overturned because the jury's verdict was not unanimous.

Jefferson Parish deputy fired for misusing Flock camera to track ex-fiancee's vehicle, Lopinto says (fox8live.com) — Metairie residents relying on Jefferson Parish deputies should know one deputy has been fired for misusing Flock license-plate cameras to track his ex-fiancee's car for years. Sheriff Joe Lopinto says the woman declined to press charges or call herself a victim, but he still deemed the policy violation serious enough to cost the deputy his job.

Louisiana nonprofit begins search for 2026 award winners (cenlanow.com) — A statewide sexual-violence nonprofit will bring its 2026 Champions of Change awards gala to The Balcony Ballroom in Metairie this November, highlighting advocates, survivors, and supportive organizations. Metairie residents can submit nominations through Sept. 13 and even attend or sponsor the event, which draws participants from 15 parishes across Central and South Louisiana.
