Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:
- Fifteen fire units from the NOFD responded to a two-alarm fire on Jena Street Sunday morning. The back of a single-story, shotgun double-style residence caught fire around 5 a.m. and the first NOFD responders arrived shortly after. After residents of the home were evacuated, it became clear that a back shed had caught fire and spread to the home, which was when more backup for the New Orleans Fire Department were called. The fire was brought under control by around 6:30 that morning, and an investigation has begun into the fire's origins. (Press Release Desk)
- Jesuit High School was closed on Tuesday due to what sources called a 'potential' threat. Students were asked to leave their classes and not to come to school at all. Police were seen outside the school, but there has yet to be any more information or details on the nature of the threat. (FOX 8 Local First)
- Recycling services will be back for New Orleans residents starting November 7, though unfortunately, twice-a-week trash pickup will not. The head of NOLA's sanitation department explained that the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, specifically the week-long power outage, was to blame for the extended battle residents and the sanitation department has been facing. New sanitation contracts have been awarded and with the excepting of twice-a-week services gone due to high cost, it seems that the trash collection nightmare is finally over. (WDSU New Orleans)
