Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- A man was shot and killed at a bus station outside a New Orleans Walmart on Tuesday. Around 11:35 a.m., the victim was shot, and the suspect reportedly fled to inside the nearby Walmart on Chef Menteur Highway, but so far has eluded custody. The victim was declared dead at the scene. (FOX 8 Local First)
- A former elementary that was being repurposed into affordable housing caught fire on Tuesday and required at total of 21 NOFD unites to extinguish the flames. The three-alarm fire began when contractors accidentally set fire to the building when they tried to cut steel beams in the ceiling. Firemen had to force entry into the building to search for people who might have been trapped, but no injuries were reported. (WDSU)
- NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in helping to locate a suspect in an October 2021 homicide investigation. A man was shot and killed on Bullard Avenue near the I-10 service road. NOPD has photos of a car and wants input on identifying the suspect and owner of the car. (WWLTV.com)
