Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: New Orleans Schools, City Close
All Orleans Parish schools and Archdiocese of New Orleans schools closed as rains from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey's continued.

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Heavy bands from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey dumped several inches of rain on New Orleans and forced Orleans Parish schools — and all city buildings — to close Tuesday.
The school made the announcement on its website. Additional closures will be announced made "in a timely fashion based on up to date forecasts."
"The decision to close school for Tuesday applies to students and classes for all public direct-run and charter schools throughout Orleans Parish," the school system said. The decision Monday was to give families and staff plenty of time to find suitable childcare as the city braces for more rain and storm damage. Essential personnel will remain on duty to monitor the situation in the coming days.
