Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:

  1. New Orleans Saints running back, Mark Ingram, will be switching his jersey number back to his iconic No. 22 this season. Twenty-two is the number Ingram has worn the most throughout his decade-long career in the NFL and the majority of his time with the Saints before he was traded in 2018. Since defensive back Gardner-Johnson has been traded to the Eagles, Ingram will be sporting No. 22 this year.
  2. The New Orleans Ronald McDonald House has begun a project to further extend its support to families whose children are receiving medial care. It has begun a $6 million dollar project to convert a building on the Uptown Children's Hospital campus into a space for families to stay close by while their children are in the hospital. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. The large scale cleanup of the successful 50th Southern Decadence has begun. The streets of the French Quarter are being swept up after the festival, which had to take a two-year break after the pandemic and hurricane Ida, brought in a much needed influx for the hospitality industry. Along with Labor Day traffic and the LSU vs FSU football game at the Superdome, French Quarter hotels were at 95% capacity this past weekend. (WWLTV.com)

  • Children's Story Time at Rosedale Branch Library (11 a.m.)
  • East Jefferson Italian American Society Meeting (6 p.m.)
  • The Untold Story of Club Desire: Film Screening and Q&A (6:30 p.m.)

From my notebook:

  • Ruby Bridges, who integrated New Orleans schools in 1960, has written a children's book called "I Am Ruby Bridges" to help teach the history of race in America to young readers.(WDSU New Orleans)
  • The fall season is upon us! Looking for a new furry friend to keep you company while you enjoy the cooler weather? Take a look at these NOLA area pets who are in need of a home. (New Orleans Patch)
  • The Mayor's Office of Housing Policy and Community Development is hosting an outreach event today and Thursday from 9-3 to help those who have applied for and not received utility assistance. (Press Release Desk)

You're all caught up for today. See you all tomorrow morning for another update!
