Here are the top five stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Did you hear the 'mysterious boom?' Residents across New Orleans on Tuesday night reported hearing a loud sound. Multiple sources have stated they aren't responsible, and no current investigations include the loud noise. So far its origin has remained a mystery. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. A man found dead in a Seventh Ward home is NOPD's 20th homicide case in the first 25 days of 2022. (FOX 8 Live WVUE)
  3. In a report ranking the financial health of the country's 75 most populated cities, New Orleans has ranked 69th. According to the report, the city needs $2.1 billion to get out of the danger zone. (Truth in Accounting)
  4. Mayor LaToya Cantrell has committed to the Sewage and Water Board substation project whether or not the city will provide funding. Unfortunately, the project won't be done in time for the 2023 hurricane season. (NOLA.com)
  5. Though it seems the latest Omicron peak is trending down, COVID mandates are set to remain through the Mardi Gras season. (FOX 8 Live WVUE)
