New Orleans Fire Department Battles Three-Alarm Fire At 1219 North Lopez Street

The fire spread to the home damaging approximately 50% of the second a third floors.

On Monday, August 30, 2021, at 12:30 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a report of a house fire located at 1219 North Lopez Street.

Dispatched at 12:30 p.m., the first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 12:33 p.m., finding smoke coming from several windows on the third floor of an occupied family dwelling. A Second alarm was called at 12:37 p.m.

Two family members and one visitor were home when the fire started. The owner stated their affixed natural generator was in a detached shed and caught fire. The fire spread to the home damaging approximately 50% of the second a third floors.

There were13 dogs and four cats in the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters revived one of the dogs but were unsuccessful reviving another dog. All cats escaped safely and one more dog ran from the scene and was missing.

The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance with shelter, clothing and food.

Nineteen NOFD units carrying sixty-eight Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
