🌱 NOLA Resident Bobby Traps Car + New House Bill Combats Carjacking

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Morning, New Orleans! It's Friday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on around New Orleans today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and breezy. High: 73 Low: 53.

Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:

  1. After months of repeated car burglaries with no arrests, a New Orleans resident has decided to take matters into his own hands by rigging a flashbang in the back of his truck for when thieves smash his car's window. He has caught suspects on camera multiple times since the incidents began a few months ago and has turned the footage over to NOPD. You can view a video of the break-in and subsequent booby trap here. (WWLTV.com)
  2. New Orleans police responded to gunfire in the Lower 9th Ward at the scene of a double shooting. Two were wounded and transported to a hospital for treatment. This case is developing, and NOPD has yet to release any further details. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. The Louisiana House voted to pass a bill on Wednesday that makes it illegal to recruit juveniles to commit carjackings. The bill is another step taken to help combat the recent spike in carjackings seen across New Orleans. It is now illegal for adults to entice, recruit or aid people under 18 years of age to commit a carjacking. (The Advocate)
