New Orleans run honors 9/11 and fallen marine (wdsu.com) — A 9/11 charity run returns to New Orleans this Saturday, with registration opening at 6:30 a.m. at Audubon Park's Pavilion 10 and the race starting at 8:30 a.m. Organized by the Travis Manion Foundation, the event honors a fallen Marine and invites locals to run, walk, or volunteer while reflecting on post-9/11 unity.

Repurposed Shipping Containers Form New Orleans' Creative Hub in Historic Seventh Ward (freeyork.org) — A new community arts hub, The Black Schoolhouse, is opening October 10 in New Orleans' Seventh Ward at 1660 N. Roman Street, using repurposed shipping containers and climate-resilient design. Created through an 18‑month collaboration with neighbors, it will offer galleries, classrooms, a makerspace, computer lab, community kitchen, and garden, all rooted in Black educational and architectural traditions.

4. Feel the Rhythm of the Drums Festival coming to New Orleans (wgno.com) — New Orleans will host the fourth annual Feel the Rhythm of the Drums Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Music Box Village on N. Rampart Street. Over 100 artists will celebrate African and Afro-Caribbean music and dance, including performers from New Orleans alongside international groups, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and the main show at 5 p.m.

5. 2X Game Changers, Team Hope NOLA announce partnership to expand services for inner-city youth (wave3.com) — A New Orleans-based youth nonprofit, Team Hope NOLA, is partnering with Louisville's Future Healers Kiddos Medical Program to expand the Save Our Kids movement beyond the city. The collaboration will link New Orleans and Louisville through education, mentorship, and health sciences, with the goal of eventually bringing this youth-focused programming into schools nationwide.
