Shreveport police warn public of phone scam impersonating officers (ksla.com) — Shreveport residents are being warned about scammers posing as local police officers and demanding money or personal information over the phone. Officers stress they will not call just to announce a warrant or request payment, and urge anyone unsure about a call to hang up and contact the Shreveport Police Department directly to verify its legitimacy.

Created by Aaron Ortiz and Jedidiah Koch, the free site centralizes listings and profiles while planning to reinvest some profits into instruments and travel support for student musicians. The project launched Sunday with a party at Noble Savage downtown.
   

5. Southern Hills pool opens again after lengthy renovation (westcentralsbest.com) — Shreveport's Southern Hills Pool has finally reopened after months of renovation delays, giving families access again to the city's only Olympic-sized public pool. The SPAR-managed facility now features two new water slides, was funded through a voter-approved bond, and is expected to open on weekends through September, with possible October hours depending on weather. City leaders also see it as a chance to build an inner-city swim team.
