• FBI creates Northshore task force to address concerns of 'gang violence and drug activity' (nola.com) — Slidell is now home base for a new FBI-led Northshore Gang Task Force, deputizing 38 local officers to tackle gang violence and drug activity across St. Tammany and neighboring parishes. With Slidell the only municipality in the parish reporting homicides last year, officials say the expanded federal authority will let local officers cross city lines and pursue serious drug and violent-crime cases more aggressively.
   

• Feds say arrest of Northshore brothers for Hamas fundraising tied to larger operation (fox8live.com) — Federal authorities say two Northshore brothers, including a Slidell beauty supply owner, are accused of secretly sending more than $100,000 to support Hamas through online fundraising. Investigators allege the men solicited donations via social media while in St. Tammany Parish, then wired the money overseas, and they now face multiple federal charges including providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
   

• Steve Gleason Announces REBIRTH Music Project With Marc Broussard and Trombone Shorty (gratefulweb.com) — Steve Gleason’s new REBIRTH music project has roots in Slidell, where he began intimate songwriting sessions before continuing work in Idaho and New Orleans. The song cycle, inspired by his ALS journey and the famous blocked punt, launches with new tracks and a major New Orleans celebration tied to Monday Night Football, giving local fans a chance to hear the music live and see Gleason honored again.
