• York County forum airs transportation highlights, challenges (sacobaynews.com) — Local and regional transportation leaders recently met at the York County Government building in Alfred to tackle how seniors and people with disabilities can better reach medical care and essential services. They shared data on volunteer driver programs, funding gaps, and driver shortages, and pledged to make this York County Transportation and Mobility Forum an annual effort to improve mobility and independence. 
• 2026 Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign announces job fair locations (penbaypilot.com) — Alfred will host a Maine Hire-A-Vet job fair at the York County Regional Training Center on October 15, offering local veterans, military families, and other jobseekers direct access to employers. The statewide campaign aims to connect at least 100 veterans with 100 hiring employers over 100 days, with additional fairs in Augusta, Bangor, and Norway.
