Doughty Middle School in Bangor are actively weaving artificial intelligence into music and science lessons, focusing on safe, thoughtful use rather than bans. They're teaching students to treat AI as a tool for brainstorming and refining work, not for cheating or replacing human creativity, hoping to prepare Bangor kids for a tech-filled future. 
2. Bangor brothers launch urban community garden project (wabi.tv) — Downtown Bangor renters now have new opportunities to grow their own food thanks to two local brothers installing small community garden plots around the city. Despite vandalism setbacks, they're pushing ahead, aiming to build a stronger sense of neighborhood connection and expand gardens into nearby parks and surrounding areas.
3. Bangor intersection to close as city tackles aging sewer and water infrastructure (newscentermaine.com) — Drivers near downtown Bangor should prepare for the Harlow and Cumberland streets intersection to close as a $2.8 million project replaces century-old water mains and separates sewer and stormwater lines. Expect traffic disruptions, changed access near the Attic thrift store, and a full reconstruction of Cumberland Street stretching into next summer.
4. Bangor plans to give $7K to reopen shuttered recovery center (bangordailynews.com) — Bangor city councilors are poised to approve $7,000 in opioid settlement funds to help reopen the Together Place Peer Run Recovery Center downtown, restoring its drop-in and low-cost meal programs. With matching funds from Penobscot County and strong private donations, the center could resume serving 20 to 50 people a day within a week of the vote.
5. 'I never expected it to get like this': Bangor man runs 100 miles, raising over $17,000 for warming center (wagmtv.com) — A Bangor runner logged 100 miles around the Queen City on August 29, raising more than $17,000 for the Well Warming Center and Jericho Road Street Ministry. Inspired by his own past struggles with homelessness and addiction, he now hopes to launch a nonprofit called Purpose Project Incorporated and keep the annual fundraiser growing for Bangor's unhoused neighbors.
