This Breakfast Sandwich Is Ranked Among The Best In Maryland

MARYLAND — Residents in Maryland have no shortage of places to grab a breakfast sandwich, but one favorite has been singled out in a new national ranking.

The Daily Meal named Kitsch in Baltimore the best breakfast sandwich spot in Maryland, highlighting the Monte Cristo in a list of the best breakfast sandwiches in every state.

The list said breakfast sandwiches remain one of the country’s favorite morning meals, with shops across the United States putting their own spin on the basic combination of meat, cheese, eggs and bread.

The Daily Meal said its picks included coffee shops, diners, bakeries, brunch restaurants and other local favorites. It described Kitsch's Monte Cristo sandwich as "a fun twist on a classic."

"You can build your own, but the Monte Cristo is the highlight of the pre-made options," the outlet wrote. "Turkey may not be the most conventional meat for a breakfast sandwich, but don't knock it until you've tried it."

"Along with fried egg, Cheddar, strawberry jam, jalapeños, and powdered sugar on a brioche bun, it's a fun twist on a classic."

The full list includes breakfast sandwiches ranging from buttermilk biscuit sandwiches in the South to bagel sandwiches in the Northeast, along with croissant, focaccia, pita, waffle and English muffin versions.
