100+ New Businesses Opened In Anne Arundel County Last Year: Officials
More than 100 new businesses opened in Anne Arundel last year. Nearly 35 expanded or changed locations. Here are some of the top additions.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County added 112 new businesses last year, officials announced earlier this month. Another 34 companies expanded or relocated, and four saw changes in ownership.
"To all the business owners and staff who are opening and operating our local businesses, thank you," County Executive Steuart Pittman said Thursday on Facebook. "Your work provides our residents with local job opportunities, and your presence is critical to the heart of our communities. Thank you for choosing Anne Arundel County."
The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation released the list of establishments on Jan. 10. This round-up included everything from restaurants to retailers and recreational facilities.

Annapolis welcomed eateries like Big Bean Coffeehouse (888 Bestgate Road), Nothing Bundt Cakes (1901 Towne Centre Blvd.) and 1771 Grill and Taphouse (26 Market Space).
The restaurant growth continued in Gambrills with Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar (2630 Chapel Lake Drive), Crumbl Cookies (1410 South Main Chapel Way, Suite 116) and Marco's Pizza (891 Crain Highway North, Suite 300).

Westfield Annapolis mall opened The Container Store, Urban Outfitters, Maryland My Maryland and Royal Jewelers.
Arundel Mills mall in Hanover introduced Nautica, Pepper Palace, The Uniform Outlet, BoxLunch, Luxe Jewelers as well as Sun & Ski Sports.
The report did not mention any new stores at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie.
A Pilates Place popped up in Crownsville (1321 Generals Highway, Suite 103). Yoga Barn joined the Severna Park community (44 West Earleigh Heights Road). And Kick Connection, Inc. started a martial arts school in Millersville (8531 Veterans Highway, Suite 105).
Other unique new businesses are:
- Celebree School, an early education center in Glen Burnie (6934 Aviation Blvd.)
- Whoof on the Wharf, a canoe and kayak rental service in Edgewater (48 South River Road, Pier 7)
- Proper Nutrition, a smoothie and juice bar in Pasadena (2608 Mountain Road)
"We invested in our businesses last year with 1,463 grants totaling over $14.2 million to more than 1,000 businesses," Pittman said. "We will continue to partner with our local businesses and provide the support they need in 2022."
