ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Anne Arundel County Public Schools board of education will receive an update at its July 10 10 a.m. meeting from superintendent George Arlotto regarding his endeavors to establish a mental health task force. The board had voted at its May 15 meeting to have Arlotto create the task force in order to better understand and address the social and emotional needs of students.
The task force will begin meeting in September and offer recommendations to the board by May 2020. Also at the July 10 meeting, the board will officially elect a vice president who will serve in that capacity through Dec. 4. The vice presidency was left vacant when vice president and student member of the board Josie Urrea's term ended June 30. Incoming high school senior Rida Alvi was sworn in as the 46th student member of the board of education of Anne Arundel County during a
ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the county courthouse in Annapolis.
