Annapolis All-Stars Compete In Mid-Atlantic Regional Sept. 23-24

The Annapolis PGA Junior Team All-Stars will compete this weekend with hopes of winning a trip to the national championship.

ANNAPOLIS, MD - From the PGA Junior League: An All-Star team of junior golfers from the greater Annapolis area, the Annapolis All-Stars, will be competing in the PGA Junior League Mid Atlantic Regional at LedgeRock Golf Club in Mohnton, Pennsylvania Sept. 23-24. The winner will advance to the PGA Junior League Championship Nov. 16-19 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

  • Annapolis All-Stars (Glen Burnie, Maryland) – Players are from Chartwell Golf & Country Club (Severna Park, Md.); Queenstown Harbor Golf Course (Queenstown, Md.); The Golf Club at South River (Edgewater, Md.); Arundel Golf Park (Glen Burnie, Md.); and United States Naval Academy Golf Club (Annapolis, Md.).
  • Michelle Holmes School of Golf All-Stars (Chesapeake, Virginia) – Players are from Cahoon Plantation (Chesapeake, Va.).
  • Royce Brook All-Stars (Hillsborough Township, New Jersey) – Players are from Royce Brook Golf Club (Hillsborough Township, N.J.).
  • Delaware/Newark All-Stars (Newark, Delaware) – Players are from Hartefeld National Golf Club(Avondale, Pa.); Bidermann Golf Course and Wilmington Country Club (combined to form a team in Wilmington, Del.); Kennett Square Golf & Country Club (Kennett Square, Pa.); and Patriots Glen National Golf Club, Newark Country Club and Deerfield Golf Club (combined to form a team in Newark, Del. And Elkton, Md.).

The 10-player All-Star teams were formed from a combination of players selected from each league, based on final standings. All-Star teams competed in a series of Sub-Regional competitions in their areas, with 32 teams a spot in one of eight Regionals held throughout the country. The eight Regional champions advance to PGA Junior League Championship.

PGA Junior League takes a fun, team-oriented approach to youth golf. Boys and girls learn and play the game with expert coaching and guidance from PGA and LPGA Professional Captains, wear numbered jerseys and compete in a supportive, two-person scramble format that encourages mentorship and builds confidence.

PGA Junior League continues to be one of the PGA of America’s fastest growing programs, with a record 42,000 participants on 3,400 teams nationwide this year. Below are approximate yearly numbers:

  • 2017: 42,000 boys and girls; 3,400 teams
  • 2016: 36,000 boys and girls; 2,900 teams
  • 2015: 30,000 boys and girls; 2,500 teams
  • 2014: 17,500 boys and girls; 1,425 teams
  • 2013: 9,000 boys and girls; 740 teams
