Annapolis Man Sentenced For Shootings After Baltimore Bars Close

An Annapolis man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting two people in Baltimore after the bars closed has been sent to prison.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An argument on the street that escalated to gunshots after the bars closed in a Baltimore neighborhood has sent an Annapolis man to prison for 20 years. Steven Perkins, 25, was sentenced after pleading guilty to attempted murder, assault and a gun charge for shooting at a group of people on a city street, wounding two bystanders.

Baltimore City Police said the shootings happened about 2 a.m. Nov. 27, 2016, on East Cross Street. One man was shot in the foot, while a second man was grazed by a bullet.

Investigators say Perkins argued with a group of people in the block, then pulled out a handgun and fired at the people he was arguing with, but missed his intended targets, instead wounding the passers-by. He ran from the scene, punched a police officer in the face, but was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered.
