Annapolis Police Annual Report Highlights Record-Low Year

In addition to highlighting that the city only had one homicide last year, the report breaks down, office-by-office, the department’s stats throughout 2011. The report shows the lowest rate of violent crime in the city in 32 years.

“The City of Annapolis Police Department is dedicated to providing excellent public safety through professional law enforcement and strong community involvement,” Police Chief Michael Pristoop said in the report. “All of our programs and efforts are aimed at one goal—making the City of Annapolis a safe place to live, work and visit.”

Some of the highlights of 2011 include:

• Number of calls responded to: 38,752, averaging 106.1 calls per service per day
• Number of arrests: 3,993
• Number of traffic citations: 7,847
• Number of traffic warnings: 4,192
• Number of field interview reports: 2,868
• Number of incidents the Crime Scene Service Unit processed: 162
• Number of latent fingerprint comparisons: 1,986
• Number of cases the Crime Scene Service Unit processed: 59
