ANNAPOLIS, MD — After less than two years as the Annapolis police chief, Scott Baker is leaving the job, Mayor Gavin Buckley said Friday. Baker’s last day of active service will be March 20. He was appointed to the post in May 2017 by then Mayor Michael Pantelides.

“I’ve been on the job for a little over a year now, and I want to see a change in the direction and culture of the Annapolis Police Department,” Buckley said in a news release from the city.

City Manager Teresa Sutherland said that Major Paul Herman will be named Acting Police Chief while the city seeks a permanent appointment to the police chief position.
