Anne Arundel County Executive Tests Positive For COVID-19

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman announced Thursday that he tested positive for COVID-19.

"I will be following CDC guidance and isolating to avoid exposing others," Pittman said in a press release. "Thankfully, I have been vaccinated and boosted - twice - and as a result, my symptoms are mild."

The county executive said he started experiencing mild cold symptoms earlier this week. He took two at-home tests. Both were negative.

Pittman on Wednesday got a PCR test, which is a more accurate and lab-analyzed swab. That test came back positive Thursday.

The county executive encouraged residents to visit this link to get tested and this link to get vaccinated through the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.

"As much as we’d like to put COVID in the rearview mirror, the disease continues to affect our communities," Pittman said. "Your best protection against it is to get vaccinated and boosted.”
