Police Officer Charged With Sex Offense, Assault In Anne Arundel County: Report

A police officer was charged with sex offense and assault in Anne Arundel, authorities said. The police department suspended the officer.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — An Anne Arundel County Police Department officer was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense, the agency announced Friday.

The department said it suspended the accused officer with pay. This is normal protocol for officers awaiting a trial.

Authorities identified the suspect as Cpl. T. Keller, who has been with the agency for 8 years. Keller is assigned to the Bureau of Community Services.

Police said they started the investigation on Tuesday. The Office of Professional Standards joined the investigation soon after.

The case involves assault and harassment allegations involving Keller and a contractual employee, the department said.

A press release said the court commissioner issued a summons on Friday, officially handing down the charges against Keller.
