Building Better People Productions Announces Holiday Play

Building Better People Productions will present 'The Gift of the Mad Guy' on Saturday, December 10 in Annapolis for one performance.

From Building Better People Productions: Building Better People Productions, a professional theater offering positive live shows and classes for kids and families, presents its Christmas show, The Gift of the Mad Guy, on Saturday, December 10 in Annapolis for one performance. The Gift of the Mad Guy is the hilarious story of Jack, a gift-crazed child who believes that Christmas is about giving — specifically to HIM — until he is promised a really big gift if he gives 3 of his gifts away to others. Will Jack learn that the holidays are about more than getting? The show stars Liza Skinner and Lynne Streeter Childress, BBPP’s founder and Artistic Director, and was written by award-winning journalist Leslie Gray Streeter (who is also Lynne’s twin sister). The show premieres at the Annapolis Friends Meeting House Annapolis Friends Meeting House, 351 Dubois Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401, Saturday December 10 at 11 AM. Tickets are free for kids 0-2 and $8 for ages 3 and up in advance here and $10 at the door.

Building Better People produces theater, featuring adult professional actors in shows for young audiences, that is based on character-building themes like kindness and respect. Their first show, We Got It!, is all about empathy and premiered this past Spring with public performances in Columbia and Annapolis, and is currently touring schools, churches and other venues.

BBPP was created by Lynne Streeter Childress, a more than 20-year theatre veteran who’s made her living as an actor, singer, director, administrator and teaching artist, mostly for young audiences. Lynne has always believed in the power of the arts to cause people, particularly our kids, to think. And now, watching the increasing racial, political and economic divisions our kids are growing up with, she’s started “Building Better People,” which she says “came out of the idea that children start out open and ready to learn, and that reaching them when they are young with positive messages about respect and understanding, will help build better people, from the ground up.”

Building Better People also offers specialized classes. Their Homeschool Play Production classes started with a short session in the spring, and are currently underway with a longer fall session in Annapolis, all with the same fun, positive themes in BBP’s shows.

Building Better People Productions is so thrilled to bring its happiness to the Annapolis area and beyond. To find out more about The Gift of the Mad Guy or any of the other things that we do, contact Lynne Childress at lynne@bbpproductions.com or at (443) 906-0099, or check out the website.
