“Sexually preying upon children is inexcusable,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams. “This case is extremely sad and this victim will be forever changed as a result of Mr. Rivera’s detestable actions.”
In August of 2015, Rivera sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl on a mattress in the back of an Annapolis laundromat as the victim’s mother washed clothes in the front room.
Rivera told the girl to lie to her mother and say she was playing on the computer, prosecutors said. The girl was threatened with harm if she told anyone about the abuse.
In October 2015, Annapolis Police say a 10-year-old girl had visited the same business before running away from home. Video surveillance reportedly showed Rivera as he sexually assaulted the younger girl.
Rivera faces multiple sex offense charges in the case of the 10-year-old.
