The Gampopa Center is a spiritual community, where we learn and practice the teachings (philosophy, meditation, and science of mind) of the Buddha. Our Dharma center holds a variety of spiritual practices, ranging from meditation to philosophical study and sadhana practices. Rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Gampopa Center draws on the teachings and practices of countless realized figures across many different lineages and schools of thought. When it comes to Dharma studies and activities, we consider ourselves as nonsectarian followers of the Buddha, whereby we invite Dharma teachers from all major traditions of Buddhism, to teach Dharma in ways that preserve those different traditions. However, when we are doing more serious and specific Dharma practices, we follow the Kadam masters and the Kagyu lineage of Vajrayana. The Gampopa Center is located at 1831 Forest Drive, Suite C, in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded by Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche, the center serves as a welcoming space for individuals to explore the philosophy and science of mind through the authentic teachings of the Buddha. By providing a physical sanctuary in the heart of Annapolis, the center fosters a supportive environment for local practitioners and visitors alike. Visitors can expect a compassionate and inclusive atmosphere that emphasizes practical wisdom for daily life. All are welcome

The move came near the end of the council meeting as a budget transfer. The shuffling of funds was unanimously approved. Alderman Ross Arnett was absent. City Manager Michael Mallinoff said the money would be moved from a contingency fund. He said the money is intended to pay for a study of the playground near and what would need to be done if it would be relocated to make way for a parking garage there. The money will not be used to begin planning an actual project. The county Board of Education is planning a renovation project of the aged school building, which will require relocating the students to . City officials have been to take advantage of the time when students are out of the building to construct a garage near there. The issue of moving the playground and even building the parking garage has and even against the project. The school's parent-teacher organization is against losing what little open space the school has and they also have expressed concerns over the various problems that could arise if a garage is built that close to the school.
