Cost Of Living Raise Approved For Anne Arundel Principals, Administrators

Principals and administrators in Anne Arundel Co. will soon see a pay increase to meet cost-of-living standards after a new deal was struck.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Principals and administrators working within the Anne Arundel County education system will soon see a cost-of-living salary adjustment, officials said Thursday.

An agreement was made Wednesday between the Anne Arundel County Board of Education and the Association of Educational Leaders, which represents administrators and supervisors, among other staffers.

The newly negotiated deal provides a 3% cost-of-living adjustment for all union members and a scaled adjustment for any staffers whose salary was below market standards.

The increase is retroactive to July 1.

A release issued by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools indicated the deal marks the third such accord for the current fiscal year, and that the board remains at an "impasse" with the Secretaries and Assistants Association of Anne Arundel County.

That deadlock has been in place since June.

According to The Capital Gazette, the union did attempt to clear the stalemate by voting in favor of a deal that still hadn't met all of its demands. However, it was rejected by the school district.
