Felon Charged with Carrying Stolen Handgun: Police

Kejuan Butler was stopped on Medgar Evers Street and charged with several weapons violations, police say.

A convicted felon was reportedly stopped on an Annapolis street Thursday with a handgun reported stolen 40 years ago, police say.

Annapolis Police officers arrested Kejuan Butler, 27, of Annapolis for carrying a handgun in the 1100 block of Medgar Evers Street.

Police say Butler had a loaded handgun in the pocket of his pants. He is a convicted felon, who was found guilty of armed robbery in 2007, and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The handgun was listed through the National Crime Information Center as stolen from the State of New York in 1974.

Butler was charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, handgun on person, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and possession of a stolen firearm.

He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
