Former School Employee Indicted In Child Sex Abuse Case

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Shawn Livingston, who was previously employed at the private Key School in Annapolis, is facing child sex abuse charges in a new indictment.

The 38-year-old Livingston was indicted Thursday on two counts of coercion and enticement of minors and 12 counts of receipt of child sexual abuse material.

A release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland states Livingston communicated through Snapchat accounts with at least five girls who were aged 15 and 16.

Investigators say Livingston coerced the teenagers into sending him content where they were engaging in sexually explicit conduct in exchange for money he sent via CashApp and Venmo. The impacted teens resided across the U.S.

The indictment lays out that Livingston engaged in the exchanges starting in 2022.

Livingston is being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis. He is facing life in prison if convicted.

The former school employee, who worked in information technology, was immediately fired from the Key School in December, when he was arrested for soliciting a minor for sex online.

A trial date in the case is scheduled for June 9.

Election records show that Livingston ran as the Democratic candidate in 2022 for the District 7 seat. He told the Capital Gazette at that time that he chose to toss his name into the election to bring the county council's attention back to local matters.
