Human Skeletal Remains Found In Glen Burnie: Police

Skeletal remains identified as that of a woman estimated at 20 years old were found in the Glen Burnie area, Anne Arundel County Police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Skeletal remains identified as those of a woman estimated at 20 years old were found recently in the Glen Burnie area, Anne Arundel County Police said late Friday. Investigators are working to determine the person's identity and cause of death.

Police received a report of a body found on June 14 in a wooded area along East Ordnance Road near East Avenue. Officers found the human skeletal remains and homicide detectives and a forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner were called to the scene.

A preliminary assessment by the medical examiner determined the victim is a female, estimated at 20 years old. Further examination of the remains is being completed to obtain as many physical descriptors as possible to help identify the individual, as well as cause and manner of death. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is working with neighboring jurisdictions in an attempt to positively identify the remains, a news release says.
