Listeria Contamination Sparks Giant Grocery Corn Recall
Worries that frozen corn may be contaminated with listeria have prompted Giant Food to recall the product in MD, DC and VA.

Giant Food has recalled its own brand of frozen corn over concerns that the product could be contaminated with listeria. The voluntary recall announced Wednesday applies to 16-ounce bags of Giant brand frozen whole kernel sweet corn with a UPC of 68826700676 and a best-by date of October 2019, the company says.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
