A beloved jewelry store in downtown Annapolis will be closing its storefront in late July, but that doesn't mean the company's folding.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — After years of serving residents from historic downtown Annapolis, the Blanca Flor Silver Jewelry store will be selling its storefront as it looks to transition to a new format.

The shift away from a traditional brick-and-mortar store was announced over the weekend, with officials explaining that the decision was made as store owner Donna De Garcia heads to retirement.

The business will continue under the leadership of Sofia Garcia, Donna's daughter.

"For over 30 years, our storefront at 34 Market Space has been the heart of Blanca Flor. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to grow up in this space and get to know so many of you and your stories," Sofia wrote in a Facebook post.

"Over the past few years, our shop's owner, and my mother, Donna, has been preparing for a well-deserved retirement, and I have been slowly moving into her role. With that transition, we have decided to sell our beloved building so that Donna can lean in and fully enjoy her next chapter."

"This will give Blanca Flor the chance to evolve in a way that will allow us to honor our past while embracing new opportunities for the future," she said.

The store will remain open to customers through July 15, hosting sales until doors are closed for the last time to the public.

Some of those "thank you" discounts include 15% off all jewelry and table decor, as well as 20% off pottery, mirrors and hanging stars.

Moving forward, the jewelry store will transition into an online boutique. But, there are plans in the works for the store to host pop-up shops in the downtown area.

"We will also have special gatherings, continue to curate and put out new collections, and eventually find the perfect physical home for the next generation of Blanca Flor," Sofia wrote.

"The next chapter is just beginning, and I am excited to continue this journey with you."

Blanca Flor continues to operate at 34 Market Space from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, customers can visit between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
