Man Drowns Near Edgewater After Jumping Off Boat Into Rhode River

A man was declared dead on the scene after he jumped off a boat into the Rhode River and never resurfaced.

EDGEWATER, MD — A man who reportedly jumped from a boat into the Rhode River near Cadle Creek Aug. 24 was declared deceased on the scene after divers searched for him for more than an hour.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:51 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, additional help was summoned from Maryland Natural Resources Police, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland State Police Aviation Command. Divers pulled his body from the water just after 4 p.m.
