MD Environmentalists Target Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Maryland environmentalists are eyeing greener policies this year. These are their legislative priorities, which will be announced Tuesday.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — With lawmakers back in Annapolis, legislative session is in full swing. Maryland environmentalists have their sights set on a greener future for the state. Their goals are to:
- Pass a law requiring Maryland to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045
- Pass a law banning plastic bags for carryout and regulating their use for retail
- Pass a law prohibiting the sale of certain products with "forever chemicals"
- Pass a law requiring the governor to budget for specific public transportation projects
- Overturn Gov. Larry Hogan's veto of a bill that would outlaw a certain pesticide
Supporters will gather virtually Tuesday to discuss these aspirations. The event, dubbed the 27th Annual Environmental Legislative Summit, lasts from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Interested attendees can sign up for free at this link.
