Panthers Fall Prey to Falcons, 25-20

Severna Park High wins their homecoming football game against Annapolis High.

It was homecoming on Oct. 15 for the Severna High Falcons who came out on top of the Annapolis High Panthers, 25-20.

If you have lost faith in today's youth, spend some time with the Panthers. Their positive attitudes inspire any and all around them to be better and work harder. Despite another loss, Annapolis (2-5) remains optimistic.

"We have to practice harder, learn from our mistakes," said quarterback Brandon Johnson.

The players become more impressive each time they play. They take total accountability for how they play; in a society plagued with excuses, our Panthers examine the plays accepting full responsibility for the outcome.

Delante Joyce had an extraordinary game but when asked what he thought of how he played, he just shrugged it off. His humility is exceptional.

Daniel Watson had some great plays, one rush for approximately 5 yards and two receptions totaling more than 45 yards.

Watson, in his senior year, is looking forward to college next year and is considering Bowie State, North Carolina A&T and Virginia Union among others.

"[The] Annapolis area works hard with young players holding camps in the summer and throughout the year encouraging everyone to get involved in football," said Coach Brandon Gulley.

The foundation of a positive attitude is fostered at the very beginning of the football season. Coach Gulley is a class of 2001 alumnus of Annapolis High and he said many of those involved in the football program are alumni as well. They're all eager to give back to the community by coaching and supporting the team.

There is nothing that can stop these high school boys; they have no capacity or patience for a morose or pessimistic attitude. Greater Annapolis Patch encourages the community to come out to see the Panthers play and learn firsthand how they can inspire you too!

The next game will be against South River High on their home field in Edgewater on Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.
