Prisoner Dies In MD, Sparking Homicide Investigation: Police

Investigators think a prisoner killed a fellow inmate on Monday, police said. Many details are still in question, but here's what we know.

JESSUP, MD — An incident report said an inmate died in a state prison Monday. The Maryland State Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Troopers identified the victim as Terry Proctor. He was 32.

Proctor was serving time at Jessup's Dorsey Run Correctional Facility, located in Anne Arundel County. The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services notified state police of Proctor's death around 11:20 p.m.

Medics pronounced Proctor dead on the scene, the report added. An autopsy will determine the cause and manner of his death.

Investigators said they already have a suspect, who is also an inmate. Police have not released his name. Troopers will identify the accused man after they file charges against him.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is still investigating. Detectives updated the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office on the incident.
