Racist Graffiti Discovered At Annapolis Apartment Complex

Police are investigating racist graffiti found at Admiral Farragut Apartments at 205 Farragut Court in Annapolis.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Police are investigating racist graffiti discovered July 23 in the laundry room of a building at Admiral Farragut Apartments at 205 Farragut Court in Annapolis. The graffiti depicted a face wearing a hat, smoking a cigarette, accompanied by the words "white power." Property management notified the police department about the graffiti, which the police department is treating as a hate crime.

"There is no place in our city for this racist and hateful behavior," said Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley in a statement.

The property manager told the Capital Gazette that the graffiti has since been removed. This incident comes approximately two weeks after Anne Arundel County officials and residents condemned a racist message discovered at the Mayo Skatepark. The graffiti had been left at the park for weeks, but was finally sprayed over by a local resident tired of seeing it, Patch reported.
