Raft-Up Boat Concert To Feature Annapolis Band + Railroad Museum Event Coming On Labor Day

An Annapolis band will play at a raft-up boat concert. Plus, a museum will celebrate the first workers of the railroad on Labor Day weekend.

MARYLAND — Boaters can enjoy a raft-up concert featuring an Annapolis band. Land lovers can visit a railroad museum on Labor Day weekend. Other Maryland events include farm tours, a stream restoration, photo tips and a guided paddle.

"Shaw Bay Raft-Up Concert

Celebrate the end of summer with ShoreRivers and the Miles-Wye Riverkeeper at the Shaw Bay Raft-Up Concert. The on-the-water party will feature both the Eastport Oyster Boys and last year’s headliner, The Wye River Band. Bring your dinghy, paddle board, kayak, sailboat, or power boat, and join the floating raft-up to enjoy live music in Shaw Bay. The concert is free, but donations are welcome, with all proceeds helping to promote the clean water initiatives of ShoreRivers on the Miles and Wye Rivers and Eastern Bay. Sept. 10, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Shaw Bay, near the mouth of the Wye River. More information"

"Workin’ on the Railroad

Come celebrate the legacy of American labor at the Birthplace of American Railroading – the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. It was B&O labor that build the rails that led the way across the United States, and the B&O Museum is honoring their contribution with a weekend long celebration that will include train rides and Workin’ on the Railroad tours. Programming is included with regular admission except for train rides ($2 to $3), and if you help with trash cleanup admission is free. On Monday, Sept. 5 admission to the museum is $1. "Accokeek Farm Tours

Take a tour through 1770 led by one of Accokeek’s educators. Explore the grounds of a working tobacco farm and meet its two- and four-legged residents. Suitable for all ages. These tours will be running through December. $7 per person, registration required. The Sept. schedule for farm tours is Sept. 2 and 16, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. More info and additional dates"

"Tëmakwehane Stream Restoration

Tëmakwehane means Beaver Creek in the Lenape language. Along with the stewardship team at Pearlstone, you can help in a collaboration to restore a precious stretch of what has been called an Unnamed Branch of the Patapsco River. Join the Baltimore American Indian Center and Pearlstone to give this beautiful stream valley a name and to honor the Piscataway people who have stewarded healthy water for generations.
