Severn Man Charged in Annapolis Shooting

Kedrick Tooles was arrested on 11 criminal charges, including attempted murder, for one of two shootings Friday afternoon.

A Severn man has been charged with attempted murder in one of two shootings that were reported Friday afternoon in Annapolis, which left a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, authorities say.

The suspect, Kedrick Tooles, 26, of Severn, was charged with the shooting on Tyler Avenue. Tooles was charged with 11 criminal counts, including attempted first- and second-degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

The first incident where shots were fired was in the parking lot of the Bywater Boys and Girls Club that left a man with a gunshot wound to the face.

Annapolis Police were called about 2:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of Copeland Street for a report of shots fired. The Capital-Gazette reports a man chased another man while firing a gun, which ended with the victim’s collapse at the youth club, which was closed.

When officers arrived they located Traymont Wiley, 25, of the 1800 block of Copeland Street with a gunshot wound to the face. Wiley was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter.

About 20 minutes later, police received numerous calls for shots fired in the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue. Additional calls provided a description of the suspect and that he was running in the Robinwood community.

A police sergeant and an Annapolis Fire Department Fire Marshall encountered the suspect, later identified as Tooles, and ordered him to the ground. Tooles complied and was taken into custody.

The second victim was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center by a family member. The victim is identified as Corey Holland, 30, of the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue. Holland suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police said Tooles is believed to have fired the shots in both cases.
