New Cafe Opens In Anne Arundel County, Cooks Healthy Meals With Local Ingredients

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A new cafe opened Tuesday in Annapolis. The eatery, named Sprout, prides itself on cooking healthy meals with local and organic ingredients.

This is Sprout's third location. The other two are in St. Michaels and Easton, where the business first opened.

"Sprout started in a food truck in the winter of 2016 never knowing what the next week would be like," the owners said on Facebook. "6 years later we are proud to be opening our 3rd cafe in Annapolis, a city near and dear to us. Many memories to share and friends to reconnect with."

The restaurant's chef-crafted menu features plenty of gluten- and dairy-free options. There are also several vegan selections.

Highlights include açaí bowls, salads and soups. There are entrées like vegetable pad Thai, black bean vegan burgers and peanut-crusted salmon.

The eatery is also open for breakfast with everything from chorizo hash to French toast. The bakery whips up muffins and bread made from scratch. The bakers similarly offer brownies, cookies and bars alongside other low-sugar options.

An assortment of lemonades will cool customers in the summer. A variety of tea and coffee will warm patrons during the winter. Kombucha, cold brew coffee and espresso are also available.

"We have a phenomenal team working hard everyday," Sprout said in the Facebook post. "It’s been a long road building this one, and a lot of anxious people have been waiting very patiently."

Sprout is located at 150 Jennifer Road in Annapolis Plaza. That's just across from the Westfield Annapolis mall.

The restaurant is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All three locations are hiring.
