ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — An officer from the Anne Arundel County Police Department was accused of assault after "an alleged domestic-related incident," authorities said this week. Officials identified the accused man as Cpl. Tyler Brennan, who was suspended with pay pending the investigation's outcome. This is normal protocol for officers charged with a crime.

Court documents said the offense happened Monday. Authorities issued and served a summons Tuesday, officially pressing the misdemeanor charges of second-degree assault and false imprisonment.

"The allegations involving Corporal Brennan’s actions are concerning," Anne Arundel County Police Chief Amal E. Awad said in a press release. "I take these matters of public concern seriously, and we will cooperate with the Office of the State’s Attorney to investigate these allegations."
